Here is your guide to days out with the children this summer in our What’s On In Warwickshire Guide! 

We are also compiling our yearly Summer Bucket List which will contain ideas for big days out, smaller days out and ideas for fun at home too! There is something for everyone.

AUGUST WEEKLY GUIDE

Kreative Kids at The Royal Priors

The events will take place every Thursday on the mall by M&S and Muffin Break on the First Floor, and will all run from 11am – 4pm each day.

Drawing inspiration from Leamington’s history and the great story of the visiting elephants, these four events will be interactive and creative sessions to inspire your children and bring out their artistic sides.

• The Power of Paint – Thursday 3rd August – Come and join in our finger painting session and see the wonderful elephant displayed at the centre for the following events days.

• Tell Me a Story – Thursday 10th August – Come and listen to our wonderful story tellers, and even create your own story on the day.

• Act it Out – Thursday 17th August – Enjoy our interactive performances with our wonderful hosts, with a chance to perform in front of parents on the day.

• Make and Create – Thursday 24th August – Our final session will bring out everyone’s artistic sides. With a crafty junk modelling session to make your very own elephant creation.

Fabulous Tropical Butterflies

Market Hall Museum – Thursday 3rd August 10 am to 3 pm

Be dazzled by the fabulous tropical butterflies from our collections and then have a go making one of your own. Cost: £2.50 per child, no need to book just drop in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.


Art In The Park 5th & 6th August

Our fourth Leamington Art in the Park festival, this year with a theme of the “Three Graces”, Leamington’s famous Elephants. Come along to a circus inspired weekend of art, music, performances and food. Over 150 artists, 20 food vendors, live music throughout the day plus a few special surprises we have in store…. Arty Tots

Market Hall Museum – Tuesday 8th August 10 am to 3 pm

What’s in the treasure chest?’ Come to Market Hall and become a ‘Treasure Seeker’. Create all the things you need to look for hidden treasures. Make precious crowns, a treasure chest and binoculars. Look very closely at our museum treasures, what will you find? Cost: £2.50 per child, suitable for 5 and under, older siblings welcome. No need to book just drop in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

‘Treasure 20’ Hunt

Market Hall Museum – Thursday 10th August 10 am to 3 pm

Celebrating 20 years of the Treasure Act, help us celebrate ‘Treasure 20’ by hunting for the treasures of our collections within the museum and making some to take home with you. Cost: £2.50 per child, no need to book just drop in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Charity Fun Day – Kenilworth Saturday 12th August

The Gorgeous Georgians  – Market Hall Museum – Thursday 17th August 10 am to 3 pm

Dress up as a Georgian aristocrat, have a chat to one of our collections team about the costume in our galleries and have a go at making your own Georgian accessories. Cost: £2.50, no need to book just drop in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Arty Tots – Market Hall Museum – Tuesday 22nd August 10 am to 3 pm

‘The Bug Masquerade’: Come and join the ball at Market Hall and make a beautiful mask and crown. Create magical butterflies and dragonflies puppets to dance around with you. Cost: £2.50 per child, no need to book just drop in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Be a Busy Bee – Market Hall Museum – Thursday 24th August 10 am to 3 pm

Dress up as a bee and learn how to waggle dance whilst our lovely beekeeper takes you on a tour of our live observation hive, then make a bee and flower to take home with you. Cost: £2.50 per child, no need to book just drop in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Fossil Hunt – Thursday 24th August 10 am to 4 pm

Enjoy a day fossil hunting at Cross Hands Quarry with our Curator of Natural Sciences, Jon Radley, and explore our Jurassic past. You can keep anything you find! Meet at St John’s Museum at 10.00am, coach travel is included in the cost. Bring a packed lunch. Cost: £15.00 per person, children must be accomapnied by a paying adult. Advised for ages 7+. Meet the Warwickshire Dinosaur – Market Hall Museum – Thursday 31th August 10 am to 3pm

After making your own dinosaur footprint and dinosaur model, let our Curator of Natural Sciences take you back millions of years to when our very own flesh eating Warwickshire dinosaur roamed the Earth. Cost: £2.50 per child, no need to book just drop in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Teddy Bears Picnic – Birth & Babies Appeal – Friday 1st September

What better way to spend the last day of the Summer holidays than with your small people at a fun family event raising money for the Birth & Babies Appeal at Warwick Hospital !
