Teddy Bears Picnic – Birth & Babies Appeal – Friday 1st September

What better way to spend the last day of the Summer holidays than with your small people at a fun family event raising money for the Birth & Babies Appeal at Warwick Hospital ! Big Fish Little Fish are hosting their next event in Leamington Spa on Sunday 17th September at 2pm and it’s themed Heroes and Villains!

Rave scene legend DJ SHOCK C (The Eclipse/Dreamscape) will be bringing Old Skool, Rave, Drum & Bass, and Jungle. His set will be bursting with classics so get ready to put your hands in the air on our multisensory dancefloor with club visuals, glitter cannon, bubbles, giant bouncy balloons and topped off with the famous parachute dance!

The children can get busy in our craft area making themed crafts, be artistic on our giant colouring mural, and creative at our playdoh table. There is a baby safe space with soft mats, ball pool and inflatables. Toddler play area with tents and tunnels. Free glowsticks & transfer tattoos. Licensed bar and cakes & savouries stall. Fancy Dress theme is “Heroes & Villains” – optional but very much encouraged! Face painting extra provided by Sara’s Parlour.

Summer Drop In Classes at Gymboree

Summer holiday ‘drop in’ class – Every Tuesday!! (22 months – 4 years only)                                       

Stuck for ideas to fill the holiday period? Want to avoid the crowded soft play areas and amusement parks?

Join us for a whole hour, every week, as we embark on a brand new physical and imaginative adventure!!!

We’ll journey through our soft matted, colourful playfloor, from climbing, jumping, rolling and sliding.. They’ll also be parachute games, bubbles and dancing!! We’ve got it all the action needed to satisfy the minds of your energetic and creative learners!

11.30am – 12.30pm
Just £6 per child!! (£3 for siblings overy the age of 9 month

*Spaces are offered on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis and there are only 12 available, so do come early to avoid dissapointment.***

Please note: anyone with buggys will need to leave their’s in the buggy shelter at the back of the Family Tree car park, as there isn’t room in the hall… locks are available from Gymboree reception, however we only have a limited supply, so do come early, if you require one.

Foundry Wood Activities

Foundry Wood

Foundry Wood is a managed access community woodland. Through volunteer work parties the site is fully accessible with paths and facilities for all to use. If you have small people who like trains, they will love watching the trains zoom past from the top of the wood and you can even take your dog for a walk through the woods or build a den. A lovely little place to visit if you have an hour to kill, we advise parking in Victoria Park and walking across.

The woodland is open usually between 10am – 5pm for adventures.

Pizza Making Session Sunday 20th August – 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Come and make a pizza, watch it being cooked in our wood fired pizza oven and eat it in the woodland clearing.

£4 per pizza. There is no need to book – but be prepared to wait if it’s busy as we can only cook one pizza at a time! Drop in at any time during the session.

Heartbreak Theatre – The Secret Garden – Wednesday 23rd August – 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Kreative Kids at The Royal Priors


The events will take place every Thursday on the mall by M&S and Muffin Break on the First Floor, and will all run from 11am – 4pm each day.

Drawing inspiration from Leamington’s history and the great story of the visiting elephants, these four events will be interactive and creative sessions to inspire your children and bring out their artistic sides.

Make and Create – Thursday 24th August – Our final session will bring out everyone’s artistic sides. With a crafty junk modelling session to make your very own elephant creation.

Explore our new exhibition, British Motoring Treasures and become a treasure hunter and seek out some of our hidden treasures! Travel around the Museum in search of our treasure chests, and find out some of the hidden stories behind our collection!

Create your own British car with our ‘My first car’ project

10am – 4pm, Learning Space
Whether you’re just learning to drive a pedal car or had your license for years, come and tell us about your first car – what it looks like, how it drives, create a drawing or a compose a few words. We would love to see and hear about it!
Suitable for all

Our costumed explainers will guide you around the Museum bringing the collection to life.

MUSEUM MONDAYS – 10.45, 11.45, 14.00 & 14.45

Join us for 10 minute interactive playlets from our costumed explainers, step back in time and hear their stories. Let characters such as Lady Edwards, Chauffeur William and Mavis the Clippie tell you their motoring stories.

TUESDAY – SATURDAY – Make your own motoring treasure!

10am – 4pm, Learning Space

Make your own motoring treasure out of all sorts of bits and bobs!

From scrap paper to empty plastic bottles create your motoring treasure. Then you get to take your treasure home, but not before we take a photo for our cool wall! Visit our NEW Motoring Treasures exhibition for inspiration.
Suitable for 3 years plus with guardian supervision.

All activities are drop in, however during busy periods all family holiday activities are on a timed ticket basis. To avoid disappointment please check on arrival as places are limited and are subject to availability.

Ryton Pools Country Park


Ryton Pools is a 100 acre park with great facilities including two play areas, toilets and plenty of bike riding paths to explore! There are always lots of fun events happening so check out the link below for up to date listings.

Of all the places locally this year, Ryton Pools seems to have half term packed full of fun:

Ryton Pools Miniature Railway 
Rides commence on Sunday 2nd April and run from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm and then continue on all Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday afternoons until Sunday 24th September, subject to weather conditions.
£1 per ride, with accompanied children under 3 free of charge.

Secret Garden Summer Fun Trail at Ryton Pools Country Park

Follow the secret garden trail around the park. Complete your trail sheet and collect your prize. Fun for all the family. Collect your sheet from the Visitor Centre during opening hours.

Camouflage Dens at Kingsbury Water Park

Join us and build a den from natural materials. An event for children aged 8 years and above, who must be accompanied by an adult. Wear old clothes – you will get muddy and dirty!

Wednesday 23 August

Young Anglers at Kingsbury Water Park

Every Wednesday during Warwickshire’s school summer holiday. Come and give the sport of fishing a try! All bait and equipment provided – bring waterproofs, just in case! Juniors aged 12 to 16 years of age will need a valid rod licence for the day (free from the Environment Agencies ‘I Want to Fish’ service). All children must be accompanied by an adult. 

  • Time: Session 1: 9:30 am to 10:30am | Session 2: 10:45am to 11:45am

Wednesday 23 August

Toddler Trundle at Ryton Pools Country Park

A weekly event for the tiniest of tiddlers! Leaf fun, stories, mud pies and collecting treasures will be amongst some of our activities designed for the smallest naturalists. After the walk and activities, head back to The Courtyard Cafe for refreshments (extra cost for refreshments, exclusive reduced-priced Toddler Trundle menu available). A quarterly programme is available from the Visitor Centre, giving activity details for each week.

  • Cost: £2.50 per toddler (excluding refreshments)

Wednesday 23 August

Birds of Prey at Ryton Pools Country Park

A regular event for our programme, with local birds of prey experts. Meet the birds, see them fly and learn about these amazing creatures.

  • Cost: FREE! – but donations welcome towards animal welfare charities

Ryton Young Anglers at Ryton Pools Country Park

Angling tuition sessions to be held on Wednesday in Warwickshire’s school holidays, in conjunction with Leamington Angling Club. Come along as many times as you wish and learn the essentials of good angling and a little about the species in Ryton Pool. Suitable for beginners or those with a little experience; no equipment required.

All Aboard! – Pirates Workshop and Trail at Ryton Pools Country Park

Calling all tatty pirates! Come on board our ship ‘The Ranger’ and join Blackbeard to make a tatty pirate flag, a hat and have your face painted like a pirate in preparation for your great lost treasure hunt. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Pirate Trail at Ryton Pools Country Park

Summer Reading Challenge 2017 – The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part! Every year there’s a different theme; this year it’s Animal Agents, illustrated by the UK’s best-selling children’s illustrator Tony Ross.

Family Fossil Hunt – Thursday 24th August 10 am to 4 pm

Enjoy a day fossil hunting at Cross Hands Quarry with our Curator of Natural Sciences, Jon Radley, and explore our Jurassic past. You can keep anything you find! Meet at St John’s Museum at 10.00am, coach travel is included in the cost. Bring a packed lunch. Cost: £15.00 per person, children must be accomapnied by a paying adult. Advised for ages 7+. Meet the Warwickshire Dinosaur – Market Hall Museum – Thursday 31th August 10 am to 3pm

After making your own dinosaur footprint and dinosaur model, let our Curator of Natural Sciences take you back millions of years to when our very own flesh eating Warwickshire dinosaur roamed the Earth. Cost: £2.50 per child, no need to book just drop in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wild Art – Sat, 12/08/2017 – 10:30am – 12:00pm – Bubbenhall Wood

Join us on a tour of Bubbenhall Wood. We will go on a short walk with binoculars and a seasonal spotting sheet to see what things we can find together. Think about all the materials you need to make a brilliant masterpiece, but in the wild there are none, or are there? Can you complete the challenge to create a gigantic picture made only with natural materials? Can you paint with mud? Finally, make a seasonal collage craft to take home as well. Families and accompanied children (4+) are welcome.
