Read on for Katie’s 5* review on this innovative night light!

THE BLURB: The Gro–light fits easily to your normal overhead light or bedside lamp and fills your baby’s room with a soft glow when you flick the light switch once. Use it as a nightlight, or simply to check on your baby without waking them. Flick the switch twice and you’ve got your usual full light back.

The Product: The Gro Light

Your Name: Katie

Age of child trialling the product: 4 years

Duration of trial: One week

For ages now we have been using a nightlight from our little girl’s baby monitor (which she’s now outgrown) and the bathroom light has to be left on so that she’s got enough light, should she get up for any reason in the night. Neither of these options are ideal, firstly we don’t really need to have the monitor plugged in as she’s 4 now and also it takes up a plug socket and has a long cord. Having the bathroom light on all night uses unnecessary electricity.

I was delighted when Nikki contacted me to review this product because I had never heard of it before and it seemed to solve all our problems!

The gro light comes in a neat little square box and is basically a fitting, which you attach to your main ceiling light. I must admit it was a little fiddly to attach being all the way up at the ceiling, but no more than changing a bulb might be and I was thinking of the end result so didn’t mind.

Once plugged in the gro light has a dial, which you can turn to change the brightness of the light blue LED that acts as the night light. Then all you need to do is flick your light switch and it changes from mains light to night light. Two flicks again and it’s reversed back to daytime light.

I have to say besides the initial fiddly-ness of the gro light, I cannot fault it. Our daughter is far happier with being able to have a nightlight that she can decide on the brightness with, I’m not worried about using the additional electricity from the bathroom lights now as they’re not needed any more and the LED on the Gro light is very Eco friendly.

We have now removed our big monitor night light which has freed up a socket (and some extra room!)

I can see that this product would also be so useful when used in a nursery as it would be great for a night feed or changing a nappy because you could set it for just enough light for those jobs without waking up baby more than necessary. I wish we had it when our daughter was a baby, it would have been well worth the money as we would still be using it even now, four years later.
