In our Facebook group we have been chatting about everything Mother’s Day related, the cards and gifts we’ve had made for us. The times it’s been forgotten and most importantly what we would really like this Mother’s Day. So if you’re looking for some inspiration, here’s what us Mums said they’d REALLY would like this Mother’s Day.

This year Mother’s Day is on Sunday 11th March.

There seems to be a mis-conception that Mother’s Day is a day where a partner or family member needs to lavish us Mums with huge gifts and gestures and that’s the day done. In reality, it’s much more simple than that. All we really want is some kindness and maybe a bit of your time! We published an online survey in our group and had 220 responses! Here’s what our survey found

You might be surprised to hear, it’s not all jewellery and perfume. There are some things that almost everyone agreed that they would really like to get this year. If you’re a partner of a Mummy you’ll be delighted to hear, it probably won’t cost you very much, in some cases practically NOTHING to make a Mummy happy this year.

The majority (64.2%) of our Mums say that they would like a handmade item from their children and a lie in or another gesture that money can’t buy.

  • Our Mum’s estimate that between £1- £20 is spent on them on average, the majority replying between £10 – £20.
  • 54.5% of Mums think that they spend as much on Father’s day as is spent on them for Mother’s day but 30% say they spend more.
  • For the majority of Mums, (68%) say that their partner buys their card or gift.

Here’s what our Mums said they would be delighted with this year:
“I’d feel most appreciated with a lie in, a proper one, not a ‘kids running around whilst I try to hide’ kinda one! Then a cuppa and a pastry in bed. A home made card/picture from the kids and some me time/a bath alone!”

“Just a lie in, maybe brunch and a long walk. I love a homemade card.”

“An uninterrupted hot shower!”

“The ‘money can’t buy’ stuff! A cup of tea in bed, long hot shower, cooked dinner, a day of no chores……”

“Afternoon tea. A film day with the family with a carpet picnic. Quality time with my daughter and partner !! ”

“I’m sentimental so hand made stuff or personalised items. Doesn’t have to be expensive.”

“Oh I’d LOVE a lie in!!! (One where hubby & child quietly creep downstairs and play quietly or go out early).  At least an hour or so & then woken with a cuppa I haven’t made myself.”

“I love a homemade card and going out for day somewhere just us. My godson always brings me a bunch of daffodils which I think is such a lovely gesture as well.”

“I like cuddles, a bunch of daffodils and a card  🌼  🌼(completely inexpensive)”
