The Role

I am looking for a kind, creative person to be a PA for a brilliant 12-year-old autistic girl in Warwick. Small adventures, big humour, and no “fixing” required – just patience, fun, and respect. This is about trust, autonomy, and connection – not “fixing” or “managing.”

You’re there to build a relationship that feels safe, relaxed, and genuine.

If you can roll with changing plans, chat about anything from eyeliner to existentialism, and keep things steady when emotions wobble — you might just be the right fit.

Looking for someone kind, creative, and flexible — the sort of person who gets that not everyone fits neatly into boxes (and wouldn’t want to anyway).

You’d be supporting a thoughtful, sometimes self-described “socially awkward and underconfident” 12-year-old autistic young person with a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile and ADHD.

Life with them is full of curiosity, dry humour, and the occasional left-field tangent — never boring.

They love:

  • charity shop treasure hunts

  • making and creating

  • goth makeup

  • The Clash

  • animals

They’re not big on crowds, loud noise, or groups of kids — small-scale adventures and calm company are more their speed.

What You’ll Do

• Build trust through respect, humour, and shared interests.

• Support her in things that feel safe and fun — at home or out and about.

• Encourage confidence and independence, always respecting choice.

• Offer calm co-regulation when life gets overwhelming.

• Be flexible — some days need plans, others just snacks and space.

• Communicate openly and respectfully with her parent.

• Always promote safety, dignity, and self-esteem.

About You

• Experience (paid or unpaid) supporting autistic or neurodivergent young people.

• Familiar with PDA or ADHD — or curious and willing to learn.

• Neurodiversity-affirming — you celebrate difference, not conformity.

• Calm, patient, creative, and emotionally steady.

• Good communicator with humour and strong boundaries.

Car driver with own car.

The Practical Stuff

• Hours: Around 3 hrs/week (can grow if it’s a good match).

• Location: Warwick – mainly home-based, with some outings.

• Rate of Pay: To be agreed.

• Contract: Ad-hoc, funded by Direct Payment.

• Monthly pay and payslips provided.

• Training opportunities in PDA, autism, ADHD, and trauma-informed practice.

• An Enhanced DBS check and references are required before starting.

• You’ll work closely with the parent for guidance and feedback.
